Stop reading my mind

Okay, this is getting eerie. On my Sept. 17 blog entry, I posted that Bush and Saddam Hussein should play out their little war game by themselves, a la that one "Star Trek" episode where Kirk and some lizard duke it out on some alien hellhole of a planet (which looks like the deserts of Southern California). The winner spares his crew; the loser (plus his crew) dies. No muss, no fuss and thousands of American and Iraqi lives would be spared in the process.

Well, it turns out someone has been thinking the same thing. Story here. Snip below.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - An Iraqi vice president offered a unique solution to the U.S.-Iraq standoff: a duel between George W. Bush and Saddam Hussein.

Taha Yassin Ramadan said the duel could be held at a neutral site and with U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan ( news - web sites) as the referee.

Ramadan, wearing a green uniform and a black beret, made his remarks without giving any outward sign that he was joking although reporters who were present detected a note of irony in his voice.

"A president against a president and vice president against a vice president and a duel takes place, if they are serious, and in this way we are saving the American and the Iraqi people," Ramadan told the Associated Press Television Network.

If this is on pay-per-view, I am so there.

P.S. I am working on my next "Adventures at Nintendo" installment. I swear.
